Guwahati, April 25, 2026: The 24th Rajya Puraskar Award Ceremony of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Assam was held at the Bhogeswar Phukanani Indoor Stadium at the Rudra Singha Sports Complex in Guwahati on Saturday. Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya graced the occasion as the chief guest and presented the prestigious state-level awards to deserving Scouts and Guides in recognition of their achievements in leadership, service, and skill development.

The ceremony was attended by Assam Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota, IAS, senior officials, Scout and Guide leaders, award recipients, and distinguished guests. Dr. Kota expressed his gratitude to the Governor for encouraging the young achievers and recognising their dedication to community service and nation-building.
In his welcome address, the Chief Secretary highlighted the important role played by the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement in shaping responsible citizens through leadership training, discipline, teamwork, and community service. He said the organisation instils the spirit of "Seva" (selfless service) among young people through camps, skill development programmes, environmental initiatives, disaster response activities, and various social outreach programmes.
Dr. Kota also traced the history of the movement, noting that scouting was introduced in India in 1909 and later in Assam in 1916. Following the unification of the Scout and Guide organisations in 1950–51, the movement evolved into a strong and inclusive national institution dedicated to character-building and youth development.

The Rajya Puraskar Award, the highest state-level honour in the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement, recognises outstanding performance in leadership, community service, discipline, and personal development. The award also serves as a stepping stone towards the prestigious Rashtrapati Award, the highest national recognition in scouting and guiding.
During the ceremony, 40 Scouts and Guides were presented with the Rajya Puraskar Awards for the years 2024 and 2025. In addition, 20 adult leaders were honoured with the Hon'ble Charge in recognition of their dedicated service and contribution to strengthening the movement in Assam.
The programme was also attended by Leena Dutta and other dignitaries. Adding a cultural touch to the event, a captivating Sattriya dance performance was presented, making the ceremony a celebration of youth achievement, service, and Assam's rich cultural heritage.
