Guwahati, April 25, 2026: The 24th Rajya Puraskar Award Ceremony of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Assam was held at the Bhogeswar Phukanani Indoor Stadium, Rudra Singha Sports Complex in Guwahati, in the presence of Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya.

Assam Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota, IAS, attended the event and expressed gratitude to the Governor for presenting the awards and encouraging the young achievers.
In his welcome address, Dr. Kota highlighted the significant role played by the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement in nurturing leadership, discipline, and a spirit of service among youth through camps, training programmes, skill-based learning, and community initiatives. He noted that the movement is rooted in the principle of “Seva”, helping build responsible citizens and strengthen society.
He also referred to the historical evolution of the movement, stating that scouting was introduced in India in 1909 and in Assam in 1916, before its national unification in 1950–51, which enabled it to grow into a strong and inclusive institution.

The Rajya Puraskar Award, the highest state-level recognition under the movement, honours excellence in leadership, community service, and skill development, and serves as a stepping stone towards the Rashtrapati Award, the highest national honour in scouting.
During the ceremony, 40 recipients of the Rajya Puraskar Awards for the years 2024 and 2025 were felicitated, along with 20 adult leaders who were conferred with the Hon’ble Charge for their contributions.
The event was also attended by Leena Dutta and other dignitaries, and featured a Sattriya dance performance, adding cultural vibrancy to the ceremony.
