Silchar, April 25, 2026: In a major breakthrough, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with Cachar Police and the Field Intelligence Team, busted a narco-arms module in Bhaskhandi area of Silchar based on specific intelligence inputs.

During the operation, security forces recovered a pistol with ammunition and a scooty allegedly used for transporting narcotics. Officials said the drugs were concealed inside soap cases, with a total weight of approximately 377.4 grams, out of which 108 grams tested positive for narcotic substances.
The seized narcotics are estimated to have a market value of around ₹64 lakh, according to officials.

Security personnel also apprehended one individual in connection with the case. The accused, along with the recovered items, has been handed over to Cachar Police for further investigation.
Authorities said the operation dealt a significant blow to narcotics trafficking networks operating in the region.
