Garo Girl Teara Ianchi D. Sangma Awarded CCRT Junior Scholarship in Bharatanatyam

Shillong, April 26: Teara Ianchi D. Sangma, a young Garo dancer from Meghalaya, has been awarded the prestigious CCRT Junior Scholarship in Bharatanatyam by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Sangma, who is currently learning Indian classical dance at the Gitanjali Dance Academy in Shillong, received the scholarship in recognition of her dedication and talent in Bharatanatyam.

Her achievement marks a historic milestone as she becomes the first Garo girl to receive the scholarship while pursuing the classical dance form.

The CCRT Junior Scholarship aims to encourage young talents to study and preserve India’s rich cultural traditions and classical art forms.

Congratulating her on the achievement, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma described it as a proud moment for the state and said the recognition would inspire tribal youth to embrace and promote India’s diverse cultural heritage through classical arts.
