Guwahati, April 22: Controversial social media figure Victor Das has been taken into police custody by Dadara Police following a targeted operation carried out on Tuesday as part of an ongoing investigation.

According to reports, police personnel picked up Das from his residence during the initial phase of the probe. The action follows complaints filed by animal welfare groups including Pet Love Foundation and Animal Crime Control.
Two residents, Mahesh Das and Joon Das, have also accused Victor Das of allegedly creating panic and unrest in the locality. The complainants claimed that he damaged residential property and was involved in an attack on a domestic animal.
In a separate complaint, animal welfare organisations alleged that a dog was brutally assaulted in the Hazo–Dadara area, triggering further legal scrutiny and police action.

The matter has been escalated to senior authorities including the Deputy Commissioner, the Commissioner of Police of Guwahati, and the Director General of Police. National animal rights organisations such as PETA India have also been informed and are closely monitoring the developments.
Police sources said that due legal procedures will be followed and strict action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the investigation.
Meanwhile, animal rights groups stated that updates on the condition of the critically injured dog and the progress of the case will be shared publicly.
