Gangtok, April 25: Darjeeling Member of Parliament Raju Bista arrived in Sikkim on Saturday for a four-day official visit ahead of the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His visit comes as the state government intensifies preparations for the Prime Minister’s programme, with various departments working in close coordination to ensure the successful conduct of the high-profile visit.

Bista was accompanied by Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, Member of the Bihar Legislative Council and BJP Sikkim State In-charge. The delegation landed at Burtuk Helipad in Gangtok, where they received a warm welcome from senior government officials, public representatives, and party functionaries.
Among those present to receive the visiting dignitaries were Pakyong Zilla Upadhyaksha Prabha Pradhan, Press Secretary to the Chief Minister Yougan Tamang, Councillor Tshering Palden Bhutia, Legal Consultant in the Chief Minister’s Office Puja Lamichaney, Officers on Special Duty Dina Gautam and Sharmila Chettri, ITS Member Dr. Neeraj Adhikari, Chairperson Sanjay Rai, Student Welfare Board Member Naresh Chettri, Gangtok District Vice-President Devimaya Pradhan, and officials from the Home (Protocol) Department.

The visit takes place under the broader framework of preparations being undertaken by the Government of Sikkim, led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, for Prime Minister Modi’s upcoming visit. The state administration has assigned specific responsibilities to various departments, with regular review meetings and coordinated efforts to ensure that all arrangements are completed in accordance with established protocols.
During his four-day stay, Bista is expected to review ongoing and proposed development initiatives in Sikkim. Discussions are likely to focus on infrastructure development, road connectivity, tourism, and public welfare programmes, besides strengthening coordination between the Centre and the state.
Officials said the visit is expected to further enhance cooperation among stakeholders and facilitate the timely implementation of key developmental projects. It also reflects the continued engagement between the central leadership and the state in advancing Sikkim’s development priorities ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.
