Itanagar, April 26: Capital Police have arrested three accused in connection with a POCSO case involving minor girls in Naharlagun, officials said.

The case was registered at the Women Police Station, Itanagar, after a written complaint was filed by the father of one of the victims. According to the complaint, his minor daughter and her friends went missing from their rented accommodation in D-Sector, Naharlagun, during the early hours.
During enquiry, police found that the girls were allegedly taken to a hotel in Naharlagun by three men, where the incident reportedly took place.
Following the complaint, Ita WPS Case No. 35/2026 was registered under Section 96 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) read with Sections 6(1), 17, and 21(1) of the POCSO Act, and the investigation was entrusted to Sub-Inspector Bamang Yakum.
Acting swiftly, police identified and arrested the accused: Mofidul Islam (21), Inzamamul Haque (21), and Md. Azaharul Islam (21), all originally from Lakhimpur district of Assam and currently residing in different locations in Naharlagun.
The victims’ statements have been recorded under relevant legal provisions, and medical examinations are being conducted at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun.
Police stated that the investigation is being carried out strictly as per law while ensuring sensitivity, confidentiality, and protection of the dignity and identity of the victims.
Capital Police also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant about the online activities and social media interactions of children, stressing that the safety and protection of minors remain a top priority.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
