Mein completed the enumeration process digitally using advanced geotagging and mapping technology, highlighting the transition towards a more modern and technology-driven census system. The Census 2027 is set to become India's first fully digital census, aimed at improving the accuracy and efficiency of data collection for better governance, development planning, and delivery of public services.
According to census authorities, the self-enumeration phase will remain open from April 16 to April 30, 2026, allowing residents to submit their household information through the digital platform. Following this phase, census enumerators will conduct door-to-door visits from May 1 to May 30, 2026, to verify and collect household data across the state.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister urged citizens to actively participate in the census exercise and extend full cooperation to census officials. He emphasized that accurate and reliable data is crucial for effective policymaking and equitable distribution of resources.
“Providing correct information during the census will help the government plan better and ensure inclusive development for all sections of society,” Mein said. He added that the census serves as an important foundation for formulating welfare schemes, infrastructure projects, and public services that address the needs of the people.

Describing the census as a vital national exercise, Mein appealed to all households in Arunachal Pradesh to fulfil their civic responsibility by participating in the process. Officials said widespread public participation would contribute to creating an accurate demographic database that supports informed decision-making and sustainable development in the state.
