Manipur CM Yumnam Khemchand Inaugurates Bridge and School Infrastructure at Moirangpurel

Imphal, March 1: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today inaugurated key infrastructure projects at Moirangpurel in Imphal East district, including the Itham Moirangpurel Bridge and major educational facilities.

The Itham Moirangpurel Bridge over the Thoubal River, constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-1) at an estimated cost of ₹6.45 crore, is expected to significantly improve connectivity and ease transportation for residents of the area.

At Moirangpurel Higher Secondary School, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the newly constructed Science and Arts Block built under Samagra Shiksha Manipur at a cost of ₹3.78 crore. The infrastructure includes classrooms, laboratories, a library, separate toilets for boys and girls, and rainwater harvesting facilities.

In addition, a Model Residential School constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK), funded by the Ministry of Minority Affairs at an estimated cost of ₹25.62 crore, was inaugurated.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister acknowledged the shortage of teachers at the higher secondary school and assured that necessary steps would be taken to address the issue. He emphasised that strengthening infrastructure in education and connectivity remains central to the government’s development agenda.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by local MLAs, senior officials, students, and residents of the area.
