The five-star property, coming up in the Mintokgang area within the Suryavilas mixed-use development, is strategically located just 2 km from MG Marg and near key landmarks such as Enchey Monastery and the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology. Positioned along SH-310, the arterial road to Nathu La Pass, the hotel is expected to cater to both leisure and business travellers.
Calling the project a “symbol of trust and partnership,” the Chief Minister congratulated SM Group and Poddar Group for their initiative and thanked Hyatt for choosing Gangtok for its global brand expansion. He emphasised that tourism remains a vital pillar of Sikkim’s economy, noting that annual tourist arrivals have crossed 17 lakh in 2025, including over 71,000 foreign visitors.
The 150-room luxury hotel, to be developed by Gyalshing Hotels Private Limited under SM Hotels and Resorts Pvt Ltd, will feature a 180-cover all-day dining restaurant, specialty restaurant, bar and lounge, Regency Club, temperature-controlled outdoor pool, 3,000 sq. ft. spa, gymnasium, and nearly 13,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting and event space. An integrated licensed casino facility is also part of the project, strengthening Gangtok’s positioning in high-value and regulated entertainment tourism.

Designed by SCSY Studio, Singapore, the project aims to bridge the demand-supply gap in premium city-centre accommodation and bolster Sikkim’s capacity to host MICE events, destination weddings, corporate summits, and festivals.
The development is expected to generate substantial employment, strengthen local supply chains, and support allied sectors such as transport, handicrafts, agriculture, and cultural tourism.
With this landmark project, the Government of Sikkim reaffirmed its commitment to attracting responsible private investment and positioning Gangtok as a leading high-value tourism and events destination in the Eastern Himalayas.
