Zeliangrong United Front Marks 16th Raising Day with Call for Unity and Political Resolution

Khoupum, February 26: The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) celebrated its 16th Raising Day at Mount Ararat, Council Headquarters, Khoupum Sub-division in Noney district on Wednesday, drawing thousands from Zeliangrong-inhabited areas.

The event, themed “Honouring the Past, Defending the Future,” was attended by ZUF Chairman Shri Jenchui Kamei as Chief Guest and General Secretary Shri Aihong Riamroi as Guest of Honour.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman Jenchui Kamei thanked the public for the overwhelming turnout and stressed that resolving the Zeliangrong political issue is a collective responsibility. He outlined the future direction of the political movement and called for unity and cooperation among the people.

Guest of Honour Aihong Riamroi highlighted the importance of commemorating the raising day, urging the community to honour their history while safeguarding their future aspirations.

The programme began with a flag hoisting ceremony by the Chief Guest, followed by a drill display by the Zeliangrong Tiger Force (ZTF). Students from schools in the Khoupum area presented choreography, cultural dances, a Jadonang parade, and performances of the Zeliangrong Anthem and special songs. Zeliangrong artists Azei Kamei and Kalimpi Riamei also performed patriotic numbers.

Leaders of civil society organisations, village authorities, social activists and members of the public were present. The event concluded with a closing prayer by Pastor Gainailung Malangmei of Gahtao Baptist Church.

The 16th Raising Day celebration reaffirmed the Zeliangrong community’s resolve to move forward in unity towards their shared goals.
