Three Books on Naga Culture Released; Interactive Kiosk Unveiled in Kohima

Kohima, February 12: The Department of Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland, released three significant publications on Naga cultural heritage and unveiled an Interactive Kiosk at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Art & Culture, Bayavü Hill, Kohima.

The books released include Studies on Naga Oral Traditions, Vol. II by Dr. Anungla Aier, Documentation of Indigenous Pottery Tradition of the Nagas by Dr. Ditamulü Vasa, and Contemporary Naga Painting: A Study of Cultural Narratives by Dr. Lemtıla Alinger and Dr. Talisenla Imsong.

The programme also marked the unveiling of an Interactive Kiosk designed to promote and preserve Naga art and culture through digital platforms. The kiosks will be installed at the State Museum to provide visitors with an engaging and accessible experience of the diverse traditions of Naga tribes.

Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Department of Art & Culture, Bodeno S. Colo, said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to reimagining how cultural heritage is preserved, interpreted, and shared. She noted that the digital platform would help younger generations connect with their roots while maintaining the authenticity of traditional knowledge.

Colo highlighted that Dr. Aier’s work documents shared values and collective wisdom embedded in Naga folktales, Dr. Vasa’s research emphasizes indigenous knowledge systems and community-led conservation, and the study on contemporary Naga painting reflects the dynamic evolution of Naga visual arts.

She also appreciated Smt. Sentinaro Longkumer and 6ᵗʰ Finger Publishers for making the publications widely accessible.

The books were formally released by Secretary Bodeno S. Colo along with Governor’s Award recipient (Literature, 2025) Rita Krocha and Governor’s Award recipient [Art (Painting), 2012] Vilalhou Nuodi. The programme was organised by the Directorate of Art & Culture under the leadership of Director Adela Moa.
