Itanagar/Seijosa, February 22: In a major development in the Arunachal Pradesh–Assam boundary resolution process, the first official border pillar has been successfully installed at Seijosa in Pakke Kessang district, marking a historic milestone in the long-standing inter-state boundary issue.
Announcing the development, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said the installation reflects the spirit of the Namsai Declaration and signals a decisive shift from decades of uncertainty towards peaceful coexistence, clarity, and stability for communities residing along the border areas.
The installation was carried out by a joint team of senior officials from both Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, ensuring mutual agreement and precise demarcation on the ground. The coordinated effort underscores the commitment of both state governments to amicably resolve boundary differences through dialogue and cooperation.
Khandu credited the progress to sustained discussions and proactive leadership, particularly acknowledging the role of Biyuram Waghe, Chairman of the Regional Committee for Pakke Kessang. He also appreciated the contributions of district administrations and local representatives involved in the process.

The Seijosa border pillar is expected to serve as a blueprint for the remaining demarcation work under the boundary agreement framework. Officials believe the move will further strengthen cooperation between the two neighbouring states and foster lasting harmony, development, and confidence among people living in the border regions.
The development is seen as a significant step forward in implementing the terms of the Namsai Declaration, aimed at resolving decades-old disputes and ensuring long-term peace and stability in the region.
