Imphal, February 19: The North Eastern Council (NEC) has released ₹76.65 lakh to support ongoing development initiatives in Manipur, with a focus on strengthening agricultural infrastructure and improving market access for farmers.

According to official updates shared by the NEC, the funds were released between February 1 and 15, 2026, as part of its continued efforts to promote regional growth and empower farming communities across the Northeast.
A significant portion of the allocation will be used for the construction of a modern agro market complex at Kiyamgei (Kyamgei) Village in Imphal East district. The project aims to enhance market linkages, provide better infrastructure for agricultural trade, and create improved opportunities for local farmers.

Officials stated that the initiative is expected to streamline the marketing of farm produce, reduce post-harvest losses, and strengthen the overall agricultural value chain in the state.
