Imphal, February 19: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Thursday visited the Alternate Housing Complex at National Games Village, Langol, in Imphal West district, where he interacted with internally displaced persons (IDPs) and reaffirmed the State Government's commitment to their welfare, rehabilitation, and the restoration of normalcy across the state.

During the visit, the Chief Minister met displaced families residing at the housing complex and personally listened to their concerns regarding rehabilitation, livelihood, and essential services. He assured the residents that the government remains committed to addressing their needs and will continue to implement measures aimed at ensuring their safety, dignity, and long-term rehabilitation.
As part of the programme, financial assistance was transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism. Officials said the use of the DBT system ensures transparency, accountability, and the timely delivery of government assistance, eliminating delays and ensuring that benefits reach the intended recipients without intermediaries.
In addition to interacting with residents at Langol, the Chief Minister also held a virtual interaction with beneficiaries staying in other relief camps across Manipur. The virtual session enabled displaced families in different parts of the state to communicate directly with the Chief Minister, share their experiences, and raise issues requiring government attention.

The Chief Minister also spent time interacting with children and elderly residents at the housing complex, encouraging them and assuring them of the government's continued support during the rehabilitation process.
Officials stated that the outreach programme reflects the State Government's sustained efforts to strengthen relief and rehabilitation initiatives for internally displaced persons. They added that the government remains focused on providing financial assistance, improving living conditions, and facilitating long-term rehabilitation while working towards restoring peace, stability, and normalcy throughout Manipur.
The visit forms part of the government's broader strategy to ensure that displaced families receive continued support as rehabilitation and recovery efforts progress across the state.
