Chümoukedima, February 13, 2026: Tension flared on Friday at Maova village under Medziphema sub-division in Chümoukedima district following a reported land boundary dispute between members of the Angami (Naga) and Kuki communities.

According to preliminary reports, several houses were set ablaze and vehicles damaged during the confrontation. The extent of property loss and any injuries could not be immediately confirmed. However, authorities later stated that no casualties were reported in the incident.
In a statement, Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton expressed deep concern over the violence and arson reported in the village. He urged all parties to remain calm and exercise restraint, emphasising that grievances should be addressed through lawful and constructive means.

The Government of Nagaland also issued an official press note through the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, stating that the sudden incident involved the Chakroma Public Organization and Maova Village. The statement confirmed that the situation is presently under control.
Security forces have been deployed in the area, and normal traffic movement has been restored. Authorities have appealed to the public to maintain peace and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
