According to the Central YLA Media Committee, the marker was erected under the leadership of CYLA President Pu F. Lalrothanga as part of an organisational decision to demarcate what the association describes as a traditionally recognised boundary established by earlier generations. The event was attended by Central YLA executives, leaders from the Vathuampui Sub-Headquarters, and representatives from border villages including Kawnkhua, Parva II and Parva III.

The CYLA maintained that the Tuichawnglui area falls within LADC jurisdiction and stated that the boundary stone was installed to protect territorial integrity. The association further declared its intention to guard and maintain the newly erected marker.

However, the move has drawn sharp opposition from Village Council Presidents and members of Parva I and Parva IV, along with local NGO representatives. In a joint appeal, they termed the installation “unlawful” and objected to what they described as a unilateral act carried out without consultation or due process.

The objecting leaders raised concerns over the legality of the installation and its implications for local land rights. They asserted that any activity affecting jurisdictional boundaries must follow established procedures and involve all relevant stakeholders.

Fearing escalation, the leaders have formally sought a thorough and transparent government investigation into the matter. They have also urged Chakma civil society bodies at the central level to intervene and safeguard community interests.

While reiterating their commitment to maintaining peace, the village leaders stressed the need for prompt action to prevent further deterioration of the situation in the sensitive border area.
