Aizawl, February 27: Mizoram Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena on Friday chaired a high-level review meeting at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall, MINECO Secretariat, to assess preparations for the upcoming visit of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is scheduled to attend the 20th Convocation of Mizoram University (MZU) on March 7, 2026.

The meeting brought together senior officials from various government departments, law enforcement agencies, health institutions, and Mizoram University to ensure seamless coordination for the high-profile visit. Discussions focused on security arrangements, protocol requirements, transportation logistics, healthcare preparedness, traffic management, and other essential aspects related to the Vice President’s programme in the state.
During the review, the Chief Secretary stressed the importance of close coordination among all departments and agencies involved in the preparations. He directed officials to ensure that all arrangements are completed well in advance and that contingency plans are put in place to address any unforeseen situations. Particular emphasis was placed on maintaining high standards of security and ensuring the smooth conduct of the convocation programme.
Officials from the State Protocol Office presented details regarding the Vice President’s itinerary, reception arrangements, and ceremonial protocols. Security agencies reviewed deployment plans, route security measures, and venue preparations to ensure the safety and smooth movement of the dignitary during his stay in Mizoram.
The Health and Family Welfare Department and associated medical institutions also briefed the meeting on healthcare arrangements. Representatives from Civil Hospital Aizawl, Zoram Medical College and Hospital (ZMC&H), the Directorate of Hospital and Medical Education, Health Services, and the Food and Drugs Administration discussed emergency medical response plans, ambulance deployment, and healthcare support that will be available during the visit.
Senior officials attending the meeting included Director General of Police Sharad Agarwal, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (P&D) Ravi Horo, the Inspector General of Police (Crime), the Commissioner and Secretary of Health & Family Welfare, the Secretary to the Governor, the Secretary of Information, Public Relations, Printing and Stationery (IPRP&S), Deputy Commissioner of Aizawl, Superintendent of Police (Security), Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Superintendent of Police, Aizawl, officials from the State Protocol Office, and the Registrar of Mizoram University.

The 20th Convocation of Mizoram University is expected to witness the participation of graduating students, university officials, faculty members, dignitaries, and guests from across the region. The presence of the Vice President is considered a significant occasion for the university and the state.
Officials at the meeting reiterated their commitment to ensuring that the convocation and the Vice President’s visit are conducted smoothly and successfully. The Chief Secretary expressed confidence that with coordinated efforts from all concerned departments, Mizoram would be able to host the event efficiently while upholding the highest standards of hospitality, security, and administration.
