Mizoram Chief Minister Meets State Day of Prayer Committee to Review Preparations

Aizawl, February 6: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Thursday held a meeting with members of the State Day of Prayer Committee at his office in Aizawl to review preparations for this year’s observance of the State Day of Prayer, an annual event aimed at bringing people together to pray for the peace, progress, and well-being of the state.

The meeting provided an opportunity for committee members to brief the Chief Minister on the arrangements being made for the upcoming observance and discuss plans to expand participation across Mizoram. Senior members of the committee outlined the activities scheduled for the event and highlighted efforts to ensure broader involvement from communities throughout the state.

During the interaction, Rev. Lalramliana Pachuau, Chairman of the State Day of Prayer Committee, expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for serving as the patron of the committee. He said the committee was honoured to have the support of the Chief Minister and appreciated the government’s encouragement for initiatives that promote unity, peace, and collective responsibility among citizens.

F. Rodingliana, Chairman of the Working Committee, briefed the Chief Minister on the preparations undertaken so far. He informed the meeting that last year’s State Day of Prayer was observed in 108 localities across Mizoram, reflecting strong public participation and community support. In addition to the observances held within the state, prayer gatherings were also organized at four locations outside Mizoram, demonstrating the involvement of Mizo communities living elsewhere.

Building on the success of previous years, the committee has set an ambitious goal of extending the observance to every locality in Mizoram. Members stated that formal communications would be sent to churches, community organizations, and local leaders to encourage participation and ensure that the event reaches all parts of the state.

The committee emphasized that the State Day of Prayer is not associated with any political party or political agenda. According to its members, the observance is intended to be a non-partisan and inclusive initiative that brings together people from different backgrounds to pray for the welfare of Mizoram and its citizens. They stressed that the programme is rooted in a spirit of unity, faith, and community service rather than political affiliation.

During the meeting, discussions also focused on ways to encourage greater public participation and ensure that the event remains meaningful and accessible to all sections of society. Committee members highlighted the importance of fostering a sense of shared responsibility and collective commitment to the state’s development and social well-being.

Chief Minister Lalduhoma appreciated the efforts of the committee and commended its work in organizing the statewide observance. Organizers expressed confidence that the expanded outreach efforts would result in greater participation and strengthen the spirit of unity and cooperation among the people of the state.
