Meghalaya CM Pays Tribute to Late Shillong MP Dr. Ricky A.J. Syngkon

Shillong, February 20: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday paid his respects to the family of late Shillong MP Dr. Ricky A.J. Syngkon at his residence, remembering him as a true gentleman and a dedicated leader committed to public service.

Dr. Syngkon, the sitting Lok Sabha MP from Shillong, passed away on February 19 after suffering a cardiac arrest. According to officials, he collapsed while playing futsal at Mawiong Futsal. He was 54.

Expressing deep sorrow, Sangma said Dr. Syngkon touched many lives with his values and principles and was passionate about serving the people, a commitment reflected in his work. “He left us too soon. May God grant his soul eternal rest and solace to his loved ones,” the Chief Minister stated.

The sudden demise has sent shockwaves across Meghalaya’s political circles, with leaders cutting across party lines mourning his passing. Known as an active parliamentarian, Dr. Syngkon consistently raised issues concerning Meghalaya and the Northeast in Parliament.

His passing has cast a pall of gloom over Meghalaya, particularly in the Shillong parliamentary constituency, where he enjoyed widespread respect among voters and party workers alike.
