Imphal, February 24, 2026: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Tuesday visited Churachandpur district to pay his last respects to Late Vungzagin Valte, BJP MLA from Thanlon Assembly Constituency, whose demise has been widely mourned across the state. The visit came amid a three-day State Mourning declared by the Government of Manipur in honour of the veteran legislator.
According to a statement issued by Lok Bhavan Manipur, Governor Bhalla visited the residence of the late MLA, where the mortal remains were kept for the public to pay their final respects. In a solemn ceremony, the Governor laid a wreath and offered a traditional shawl as a mark of respect to the departed leader, acknowledging his years of dedicated service to the people of Manipur.
The Governor also met the bereaved family members and conveyed his heartfelt condolences, expressing solidarity with them during their time of profound grief. He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and wished the family strength, courage, and comfort to bear the irreparable loss.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor remembered Vungzagin Valte as a committed public representative who devoted his political career to serving the people of Thanlon Assembly Constituency and raising the concerns of the hill districts. He noted that the late legislator's dedication to public welfare and democratic values would continue to be remembered with respect.

Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh also visited the residence to pay homage to the departed leader. He laid a wreath and offered a shawl in tribute, joining the Governor in honouring Valte's contributions to public service.
