New Delhi, February 24: In his first official meeting with the Prime Minister since assuming office earlier this month, Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Prime Minister's Office, Seva Teerth, New Delhi, on Tuesday to discuss key issues concerning the state, including peace, rehabilitation, development, and women empowerment.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Nemcha Kipgen and Losii Dikho, making it a high-level delegation representing the newly formed Manipur Government. The meeting marked an important milestone in strengthening coordination between the Centre and the state following the formation of the new government on February 4, 2026.
During the interaction, Chief Minister Khemchand Singh briefed the Prime Minister on the initiatives undertaken by his government to restore peace, normalcy, and communal harmony in Manipur following the prolonged period of unrest. He highlighted the administration's ongoing efforts to rehabilitate internally displaced persons (IDPs), rebuild public confidence, and ensure inclusive development across all regions of the state.
The Chief Minister also sought the Prime Minister's continued support for accelerating infrastructure development, improving public services, and implementing welfare programmes aimed at promoting long-term stability and economic growth. Special emphasis was placed on women empowerment, with the Chief Minister urging greater support for initiatives benefiting women in both the hill and valley regions of Manipur through enhanced livelihood opportunities, education, skill development, and entrepreneurship.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister and the two Deputy Chief Ministers extended a formal invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Manipur. They expressed confidence that such a visit would further strengthen the partnership between the Centre and the state while boosting public confidence in the ongoing peace and development process.
The meeting is widely viewed as a significant step in reinforcing Centre-State cooperation at a crucial time for Manipur. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working together to restore lasting peace, accelerate rehabilitation, promote inclusive growth, and ensure sustainable development for all sections of society in the state.
