Imphal, Feb 10, 2026: The Government of Manipur on Monday ordered the suspension and curbing of internet and data services across the entire revenue jurisdiction of Ukhrul district for five days as a preventive and precautionary measure in view of the prevailing volatile law-and-order situation.
According to an order issued by the Home Department, there is apprehension that anti-social elements may misuse social media platforms to circulate images, videos, messages, rumours, and inflammatory content that could incite public passions, disturb communal harmony, and lead to loss of life or damage to public and private property.
The suspension covers all forms of internet and data services, including broadband, VPN, and VSAT services. The order came into immediate effect from 11:30 AM on February 10, 2026, and will remain in force for five days.
The government stated that the decision was taken after reviewing the prevailing situation and its possible co-relation with the general operation of internet services, which could aggravate disturbances to peaceful coexistence and public order.
