Manipur: Arms, Ammunition Recovered in Thoubal and Chandel; KCP (MFL) Cadre Arrested

Imphal, February 23, 2026: Security forces carried out multiple operations across Manipur over the past two days, recovering a cache of arms and ammunition and arresting an alleged militant cadre, according to Manipur Police.

On February 23, security forces recovered several weapons from Tentha Erel Ching under Khongjom Police Station in Thoubal district. The seized items included one SMG carbine with a magazine, three bolt-action rifles, two single-barrel breech-loading (SBBL) guns, one .32 pistol with magazine, one .32 live round, one 9 mm blank cartridge, and three helmets.

In a separate operation on February 22, security forces recovered arms and war-like stores from the general area between T. Bollok and L. Molhoi villages under Chakpikarong Police Station in Chandel district. The items seized included one G-3 rifle with an empty magazine, three country-made Lathode guns, two single-barrel guns, three locally made Pompi shells, four Pompi guns, two locally made carbines with empty magazines, two magazine pouches, 55 rounds of 7.62 mm AK rifle ammunition, eight Baofeng radio sets, and one dagger with cover.

Meanwhile, on February 23, security forces arrested an active cadre of Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL) from Lamlai Mamang Leikai Samu Lambel under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East district. The arrested individual has been identified as Khaidem Joychandra Meitei alias Inaocha (55) of Lamlai Mayai Leikai.

Police said 50 rounds of 7.62 x 39 mm AK live ammunition were seized from his possession.
