Kangpokpi District Launches Awareness Drive Against Child Marriage

Kangpokpi, February 2: The District Administration Kangpokpi, in collaboration with the Integrated Rural Management Association (IRMA), on Monday launched a special awareness drive aimed at preventing child marriage and promoting child rights across the district.

The campaign was formally flagged off from the Deputy Commissioner’s Complex, Kangpokpi as part of the district’s ongoing efforts to strengthen social safeguards and ensure effective implementation of child protection laws.

Officials said the drive will cover various parts of the district to sensitise the public on legal provisions related to child marriage, child protection mechanisms, and available support services, including child helpline facilities. Special emphasis is being placed on spreading awareness about the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (PCMA).

The District Administration has appealed to the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any instances or concerns related to child marriage to the concerned authorities, enabling timely intervention and protection of children’s rights.

The initiative underscores the district’s commitment to safeguarding children and fostering a safer, more informed community.
