Leimakhong/Kangpokpi, February 15: In a humanitarian initiative amid prevailing tensions in Manipur, the Red Shield Division of the Indian Army ensured the safe passage of 83 civilians from Leimakhong Police Station to Sapermeina.

According to a statement issued by PRO Defence, the escorted group comprised 53 students scheduled to appear for their board examinations, 12 civilians requiring urgent medical assistance, and 18 individuals travelling for employment-related purposes.
The operation was conducted with detailed planning and close coordination to safeguard the safety and dignity of all individuals involved. During the movement, the Army convoy encountered three road blockades. Officials stated that each situation was handled through calm and constructive dialogue with local community leaders, allowing peaceful and uninterrupted transit.

Despite passing through sensitive areas, the convoy reached its destination without incident, reflecting disciplined execution and effective communication on the ground.
The mission highlights the Indian Army’s continued commitment to civilian welfare, conflict mitigation, and humanitarian values, reinforcing its role as a stabilising force for local communities during periods of unrest.
