One of the key highlights of the visit was the inauguration of the 702.30-metre bridge over the River Lohit at Selekghat, a vital component of the Asom Mala 1.0 programme. The bridge forms part of the ₹694.77 crore Balichapori–Bongalmora connectivity project, which includes the construction of two major bridges over the Lohit and Subansiri rivers and the upgrading of connecting roads. The project is expected to improve transportation, reduce travel time, and provide better access to essential services for residents of Majuli and neighbouring Lakhimpur district.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Integrated District Commissioner’s Office at Garamur, built under the State-Owned Priority Development (SOPD) scheme at a cost of ₹24.83 crore. Spread across 4,263.51 square metres, the three-storey complex houses the District Commissioner’s office along with several key government departments under one roof. Equipped with modern facilities such as meeting halls, a video conferencing room, digital library, auditorium, childcare room, and public service counters, the building is designed to streamline governance and improve citizen services. During the event, Sarma planted a bakul sapling within the campus as a symbol of sustainable development.

The newly built four-storey girls’ hostel provides safe and well-equipped accommodation for 178 students.

Expressing confidence in the university’s future, Sarma said the institution’s planned expansion into Arts and Science programmes would strengthen Assam’s higher education system while preserving and promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage.
