Himanta Biswa Sarma Distributes 1,879 Appointment Letters, Assam Govt Jobs Reach 1.58 Lakh

Guwahati, February 11: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday distributed appointment letters to 1,879 candidates across various government departments, taking the total number of recent government job appointments in the state to 1,58,373.

Speaking at a programme held in Guwahati, the Chief Minister said the newly appointed candidates would now have the opportunity to serve “Aai Asomi” (Mother Assam), reaffirming the government’s commitment to empowering the youth through fair and transparent recruitment.

Out of the 1,879 candidates, 1,694 were selected for various posts under the Public Works Department (PWD), Transport Department, and Water Resources Department. Additionally, 185 contractual candidates were appointed under the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM).

The Chief Minister highlighted that the state government continues to prioritise merit-based recruitment to create meaningful employment opportunities. He reiterated that the initiative marks another significant milestone in fulfilling the government’s promise of providing 1.5 lakh government jobs and beyond.

With the latest appointments, the cumulative number of government jobs provided under the present dispensation has reached 1,58,373, underscoring the government’s resolve to ensure transparent and equitable employment opportunities for the youth of Assam.
