Pakyong, Feb 4: The new academic session for all government schools in Pakyong District officially began on Tuesday, in line with the statewide school reopening schedule across Sikkim. Marking the start of the academic year, textbooks, uniforms and essential school supplies were distributed across government schools in the district.
On the reopening day, officers from the district, subdivision and block levels, along with Block Resource Centre Coordinators (BRCCs) and Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs), visited schools within their respective jurisdictions. The officials monitored the smooth resumption of classes and ensured that the distribution of materials was carried out in an organised and timely manner.
During the visits, the teams interacted with heads of schools, teachers and students, and reviewed institutional preparedness for the new academic session. School infrastructure, classroom readiness and the availability of teaching-learning materials were assessed to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.

The initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to strengthening the education system and reducing the financial burden on parents by providing essential educational resources at the start of the academic year. Timely supply of textbooks, uniforms and other materials is expected to help students commence their studies without delay and with renewed motivation.
