Pakyong, Feb 4: Government schools across Pakyong District officially reopened on Tuesday with the commencement of the new academic session, in accordance with the statewide school reopening schedule in Sikkim. The first day of the academic year was marked by the distribution of free textbooks, school uniforms, and other essential educational materials to students, ensuring they begin their studies with the necessary academic support.
To oversee the smooth reopening of schools, officials from the district, subdivision, and block levels visited educational institutions across their respective jurisdictions. The monitoring teams included Block Resource Centre Coordinators (BRCCs) and Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs), who supervised the resumption of classes and ensured that the distribution of learning materials was carried out efficiently and in an organised manner.
During their visits, the officials interacted with heads of institutions, teachers, non-teaching staff, and students to review the preparedness of schools for the new academic year. They assessed classroom readiness, school infrastructure, sanitation facilities, and the availability of teaching-learning materials to ensure that schools were fully equipped to provide a safe, welcoming, and conducive learning environment from the very first day.
The officials observed that the distribution of textbooks, uniforms, and other school supplies commenced successfully across the district, with institutions receiving the required materials on schedule. Students expressed enthusiasm and excitement as they returned to classrooms after the vacation, many beginning the new academic session with fresh learning resources in hand.
