Saltopgre, February 11: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday inaugurated the new building of Bishop Mama Memorial School at Saltopgre, describing the institution as a beacon of hope for students in the region.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister lauded the school for its longstanding contribution to the growth and success of students from the area. He emphasised that the upgraded infrastructure would further enhance learning opportunities and strengthen the education ecosystem in the Garo Hills.
During the event, Sangma paid tribute to Late George Mamalassery, affectionately known as Bishop Mama, recalling his role as a visionary reformer and a driving force behind several transformative initiatives in the Garo Hills. He noted that the school stands as a testament to Bishop Mama’s firm belief that education is the most powerful instrument of change.
