Shillong, February 10: The Eastern Command Investiture Ceremony 2026 was held with solemn grandeur at Umroi Military Station in Meghalaya on February 10, honouring acts of courage, distinguished service, and professional excellence within the Indian Army.

The ceremony was presided over by Lt Gen R C Tiwari, Army Commander, Eastern Command, who felicitated 37 awardees for their exemplary service to the nation. The honours conferred included two Yudh Seva Medals, 19 Sena Medals (Gallantry), seven Sena Medals (Distinguished), one Bar to Vishisht Seva Medal, seven Vishisht Seva Medals, and one Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak.
In addition to individual honours, 49 Army units and Army Public School, Kolkata were conferred the GOC-in-C, Eastern Command Unit Appreciation in recognition of their exceptional professionalism, operational excellence, and outstanding achievements.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers of the Indian Armed Forces, families of the awardees, and Veer Naris, whose presence underscored the collective sacrifice and support behind the nation’s defenders.

Addressing the gathering, Lt Gen Tiwari congratulated the award recipients and exhorted all ranks to uphold the highest traditions, values, and ethos of the Indian Army, reaffirming the Eastern Command’s commitment to duty and service.
Meghalaya Governor C H Vijayashankar also graced the occasion, felicitating the Veer Naris and interacting with the awardees and senior commanders. The Governor later joined the Veer Bhoj, sharing a meal with the Veer Naris and decorated soldiers, marking a gesture of respect and solidarity.
The Eastern Command Investiture Ceremony 2026 stood as a tribute to bravery, dedication, and the enduring spirit of the Indian Army, celebrating both the warriors in uniform and the families who stand firmly behind them.
