Shillong, February 6: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday inaugurated a newly constructed Multilevel Car Parking Facility developed under Shillong Smart City Ltd., located adjacent to the Additional State Secretariat in Shillong.

The facility has been designed to strengthen urban mobility in the state capital by easing traffic congestion and addressing the long-standing shortage of organised parking space in the busy administrative zone. Officials said the project is part of the broader Smart City initiative aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the new parking complex would significantly reduce roadside parking and improve traffic flow around the Secretariat and nearby commercial areas. He added that such infrastructure projects are crucial as Shillong continues to witness rapid urban growth and increasing vehicular density.
The multilevel parking facility is expected to benefit government employees, local residents, and visitors alike, while contributing to better traffic management and urban planning in the city.
