Sharing the development on social media, Sangma said the distribution of land pattas was the outcome of sustained collaboration and cooperation between the government and local residents. He stressed that such partnerships are crucial for achieving genuine development and inclusive growth.

“For years, the absence of proper land documents created administrative, legal, and financial challenges for many families,” the Chief Minister said. He noted that with the pattas now in hand, beneficiaries would gain security and relief from long-standing uncertainties, enabling them to access services, benefits, and financial opportunities more easily.

Terming the initiative as a move towards empowering people, Sangma said land security provides families with dignity and confidence about their future. He also assured that similar land settlement issues in other areas of the state would be taken up in a phased manner.

Reiterating the government’s approach, the Chief Minister said no decision would ever be imposed on the people. “We will always move forward by taking on board the willingness and cooperation of the people,” he said, underlining the administration’s commitment to participatory governance.

The handover of land pattas in Nikwatgre is being seen as a significant milestone in addressing urban land settlement challenges in Tura and is expected to benefit many families who have lived for decades without formal land ownership documents.
