One of the key highlights of the meeting was a presentation by Mumbai-based FC Tech Energy, which showcased its innovative technology for converting plastic waste into fuel cells and sustainable energy. Company representatives explained how the technology could help address environmental challenges associated with plastic waste while simultaneously generating clean energy and supporting industrial development.
During the presentation, FC Tech Energy expressed its interest in establishing a similar facility in Mizoram. The company outlined the basic requirements for the proposed project, including suitable land, adequate water supply, and reliable power infrastructure. Officials noted that such a project could contribute significantly to waste management, renewable energy production, and sustainable industrial growth in the state.
Following detailed discussions, the Empowered Committee granted in-principle approval to the proposal. However, members decided that a thorough assessment would be necessary before final approval is granted. To facilitate this process, the committee resolved to undertake a visit to the company’s existing facility in Mumbai to evaluate the technology, operational framework, and potential benefits for Mizoram. The committee also discussed the possibility of identifying and allocating suitable land for the proposed project, subject to further examination.
The meeting also reviewed the status of the Ginger Processing Unit being established by Opickpure Private Limited at Khuanglenga. Officials informed the committee that the Mizoram Government had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the company on September 20, 2025, as part of efforts to promote agro-based industries and add value to the state's agricultural produce.
According to officials, the company has already invested approximately ₹2.5 crore in the project, and construction of the processing facility has been completed. The unit is expected to play an important role in supporting ginger farmers by providing better market access, value addition, and opportunities for increased income generation.
The committee was informed that the state government has extended various incentives and support measures under its Investment and Industrial Policy to facilitate the project. Several key interventions by different government departments are also nearing completion, paving the way for the unit to become operational in the near future.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma emphasized the importance of promoting industries that are environmentally sustainable, economically viable, and beneficial to local communities. He reiterated the government's commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment while ensuring that industrial development contributes to employment generation and long-term economic growth.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue facilitating investment proposals that align with Mizoram’s development priorities.
