Chakhroma Youth Organisation Gives 7-Day Ultimatum to Maova Village Council Over Feb 13 Attack

Chümoukedima, Feb 17: The Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Chairman of Maova Village Council following the alleged attack on leaders of the Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) on February 13, 2026.

In a notice dated February 16, the organisation alleged that certain miscreants from Maova Village carried out a planned and premeditated assault on the CPO President and his colleagues when they had visited the village to hold a peaceful dialogue. The notice claimed that catapults, stones and other projectiles were used, resulting in grievous injuries to CPO leaders and volunteers.

Describing the incident as serious and unacceptable, the CYO directed the Chairman of Maova Village Council to appear in person before CPO leaders at CPO Hall in Chümoukedima Town, along with Mr. Seiboi Changsan, GB, and individuals allegedly responsible for the violence, for clarification and settlement.

The ultimatum requires compliance within seven days from the date of issuance of the notice, setting February 23, 2026, as the deadline. The organisation warned that failure to comply would compel it to take appropriate decisions and actions under Angami customary law and established resolutions, holding the Chairman and Mr. Seiboi Changsan accountable for the alleged act of violence.
