Guwahati, February 18: The Assam government has spent around Rs 400 crore on advertisements across various media platforms over the past five years, Information and Public Relations Minister Pijush Hazarika informed the Assembly on Tuesday.

Replying to a question raised by Congress MLA Pradip Sarkar, the minister stated that between June 1, 2021, and January 31, 2026, the government spent approximately Rs 330.74 crore on display and classified advertisements in print media.
In addition, over Rs 69.39 crore was spent on electronic media advertisements, Rs 37.8 crore on social media platforms, and Rs 1.57 crore on digital media during the same period.

The minister further informed the House that more than Rs 52 crore was spent on banners, hoardings, and other publicity materials since the financial year 2021–22. The yearly expenditure included over Rs 12.82 crore in 2021–22, Rs 6.68 crore in 2022–23, Rs 7.86 crore in 2023–24, Rs 3.99 crore in 2024–25, and over Rs 24.69 crore in 2025–26.
Hazarika said the expenditure was incurred to publicise various government schemes, initiatives, and activities through multiple media platforms.
