Itanagar, February 20: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) on Friday conferred the State Gold and Silver Medals upon distinguished individuals and organisations for their outstanding service, courage and exemplary contributions to the State. The ceremony was held at the Durbar Hall of Lok Bhavan in Itanagar.

The Governor also presented the Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration, recognising exemplary governance initiatives and public service achievements.
The State Gold Medal was awarded to two individuals and two organisations. Among the recipients were Havildar and Honorary Naib Subedar (Retd.) Lekhi Passang of the 2nd Battalion, Arunachal Scouts; whistle-blower Late Gyamar Padang; the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC); and the Women Police Station, Pasighat.
Fourteen individuals and two organisations were conferred the State Silver Medal for dedicated service towards the welfare and progress of Arunachal Pradesh. The awardees included administrative officers, police personnel, healthcare professionals and social workers such as Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Vishakha Yadav, Dr Peter Tayeng of Longding District Hospital, PHQ Itanagar Sub-Inspector Ganesh Das, and several other officers across districts.

The Governor also conferred the Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration–2025 on five institutions. These included the Urban Development Department, West Siang, for Aalo town beautification and Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0 initiatives; APPSC for organisational reforms; the District Urban Development Agency, Namsai, for septage management projects; the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Longding, for the Kanubari multipurpose sports hub; and the West Kameng district administration along with the Women and Child Development Department for the Tech-Vadi Anganwadi initiative. The award carries a cash prize of ₹10 lakh and an honorary scroll.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, MP Tapir Gao, Home Minister Mama Natung, Minister Dasanglu Pul, MLAs, senior officials and other dignitaries. Chief Secretary Manish Gupta conducted the proceedings.
Congratulating the awardees, the Chief Minister said their dedication and selfless service were a source of inspiration and pride for the State.
