The product is produced and marketed by Rakta Organic, an initiative led by Shri Pema Tsewang of Grengkhar village in Tawang. The venture seeks to bring the traditional farming practices of the Monpa community to wider national and international markets while preserving the region’s rich agricultural heritage.
RAKTA Rice is cultivated using zero-chemical and eco-friendly farming methods that have been practiced for generations in the Himalayan region. Known for its distinctive red colour and nutritional value, the rice is naturally rich in antioxidants, iron, dietary fibre, and essential minerals, making it a healthy and nutritious food choice for consumers.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Khandu highlighted the importance of supporting indigenous agricultural products and empowering local farmers. He said the launch of RAKTA Rice reflects the government's commitment to promoting organic farming, preserving traditional crop varieties, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in rural areas.
The Chief Minister noted that Arunachal Pradesh possesses immense potential in the organic agriculture sector due to its clean environment, traditional farming systems, and rich biodiversity. He emphasized that initiatives such as RAKTA Rice not only enhance farmers’ incomes but also help preserve indigenous knowledge and agricultural practices that have been passed down through generations.
Khandu further stated that promoting local products through branding and market access is essential for ensuring economic growth in rural communities. He expressed confidence that RAKTA Rice would gain recognition beyond the state and serve as a flagship product representing the unique agricultural identity of Arunachal Pradesh.
