Khonsa, February 22, 2026: Troops of the Khonsa Battalion of the Assam Rifles responded swiftly to a major fire incident that broke out at Nogna Village in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh around midnight on February 21.

Upon receiving information about the blaze, Assam Rifles personnel immediately mobilised and rushed to the affected village. The troops initiated prompt fire containment measures and assisted residents in evacuating to safer locations.
Working in close coordination with the local administration and emergency agencies, the security personnel helped control the fire, safeguarded villagers’ belongings, and prevented the flames from spreading further to nearby houses.

Thanks to the timely and coordinated response, the situation was brought under control quickly, and no loss of life was reported.
Officials said the swift action once again reaffirmed the Assam Rifles’ commitment to protecting lives and supporting local communities during emergencies in remote and vulnerable areas.
