Zeliangrong Baudi Appeals for Peace and Dialogue After Ireng Incident

Peren/Tamenglong, Jan 15, 2026: The Zeliangrong Baudi of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland on Tuesday issued a press statement expressing concern over the recent crisis at Ireng (Puilong) Naga village, and called for restraint, dialogue and peaceful resolution.

In the statement dated January 14, the Zeliangrong Baudi said it firmly believes that conflicts can be resolved through dialogue, mutual understanding and respect among all stakeholders. Appealing to all groups and individuals, the organisation urged an immediate end to violence and called for respect for traditional land and boundary arrangements.

Describing the Zeliangrong community as peace-loving, the Baudi reaffirmed its commitment to harmonious coexistence and said it stands united against any form of violence or disruption. It stressed that peace and stability are essential for protecting the interests of all communities in the region.

The organisation also urged the state government to take immediate and time-bound initiatives to facilitate dialogue and bring about an amicable resolution to the situation. Proactive steps by authorities, it said, are necessary to ensure stability and prevent further escalation.

Calling upon leaders, civil society organisations and the public, the Zeliangrong Baudi appealed for collective efforts to prioritise peace, unity and collaborative solutions in the larger interest of the region.

The statement was jointly signed by Ningthaodai Gonmei, President, Zeliangrong Baudi (AM&N), and Poupoklung Kamei, President, Zeliangrong Baudi, Manipur.
