Senapati, January 20: A one-day sensitisation programme on The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 was successfully conducted in Senapati on Tuesday. The programme was jointly organised by the Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) and the District Administration Senapati.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley, IAS, emphasised the importance of legal awareness and reiterated a zero-tolerance approach towards sexual harassment at the workplace. She underlined the need to create safe, inclusive and respectful work environments that uphold dignity and equality for all.
The programme highlighted key provisions of the Act, including prevention mechanisms, grievance redressal procedures and the responsibilities of employers. Participants were sensitised on reporting platforms such as SHe-Box, the National Women Helpline 181, and the crucial role played by Internal Complaints Committees (ICC) and Local Complaints Committees (LCC) in addressing complaints.
Officials and resource persons stressed that preventing workplace harassment is a collective responsibility requiring awareness, prompt reporting and institutional accountability. The session concluded with a call to strengthen compliance with the Act and foster workplaces that ensure safety, dignity and gender equality.
The programme witnessed participation from government officials, employees and stakeholders from various departments across Senapati district.
