The newly inaugurated offices include those of the Superintendent of Police, District Public Relations Office (DPRO), District Youth Resources Office (DYRO), District Planning Officer (DPO – Planning), and the District Sericulture Office. The infrastructure has been developed to strengthen the institutional framework of the district administration and ensure more efficient delivery of public services.
Addressing the inaugural programme, Chief Minister Rio expressed sincere appreciation to the departmental engineers, contractors, workers, and the local community for their dedication and cooperation in completing the projects. He said Shamator, being one of the newly created districts of Nagaland, was established with the objective of bringing administration closer to the people and ensuring inclusive and balanced development.
However, the Chief Minister noted that the absence of a fully functional DC office had posed challenges in governance, inter-departmental coordination, public service delivery, and implementation of government schemes. He said the inauguration of the office complex would bridge these gaps and lay a strong foundation for effective district administration.
Emphasising the role of the Deputy Commissioner as the principal administrative and executive authority at the district level, Dr. Rio highlighted responsibilities including revenue administration, maintenance of law and order, disaster management, development planning, and coordination among line departments. He stated that the establishment of these offices marks a critical step towards strengthening governance, improving service delivery, and ensuring the overall welfare of the people. He also added that the establishment of Treasury and Sub-Treasury offices would be considered based on the necessity of transactions.
The Chief Minister urged citizens of Shamator district to take collective responsibility in maintaining and optimally utilising the facilities, so that the complex truly serves its intended purpose. He expressed hope that the DC office complex would emerge as a centre of efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric governance.
Dr. Rio also extended his Tsungkamnyo greetings to the people and expressed confidence that the new office complex would usher in a new era of effective administration and sustainable development for Shamator district.
