SDPDB Bhandari Calls for Expedited Work on Nagaland Foothill Road

Bhandari, Jan 16: The Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) Bhandari convened its monthly meeting on Friday at the conference hall of the Summer House-Cum-Guest House, with members emphasizing the need to expedite ongoing developmental projects, particularly the strategically important Nagaland Foothill Road.

The meeting was chaired by Longasen Lotha, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of SDPDB Bhandari, who welcomed newly posted officers to the subdivision and reviewed the action taken on agenda items discussed during the previous meeting. The session brought together officials from various government departments to discuss developmental priorities, infrastructure projects and administrative preparations for upcoming events.

A major focus of the meeting was the progress of the Nagaland Foothill Road, a key infrastructure project expected to significantly enhance connectivity, transportation and economic growth across the region. Members of the house stressed the importance of completing the project within the stipulated timeframe and urged the concerned department to intensify efforts to avoid delays.

Providing an update on the project, Elithung Ovung, SDO (R&B), Public Works Department (PWD), informed the board that a departmental inspection of the road project was scheduled for January 17. He further stated that a joint inspection involving officials from the department and members of the Lotha Hoho Foothill Construction Committee would be conducted on January 21, 2026, to assess the status of ongoing works and address any issues affecting implementation.

The meeting also deliberated on the proposed establishment of an Officers’ Club in Bhandari. Presenting the proposal, Kilangtemsu, Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Bhandari, outlined the objectives, scope and proposed operational framework of the initiative. Members discussed the potential benefits of the club in promoting coordination, interaction and welfare among government officials posted in the subdivision.

In preparation for the Republic Day 2026 celebrations, the board assigned responsibilities to various departments and directed officials to ensure that all arrangements are completed well ahead of schedule. Departments were instructed to coordinate closely to guarantee the smooth conduct of the national event.

Concluding the meeting, the chairperson called for greater inter-departmental cooperation and collective efforts to ensure timely implementation of development projects and effective delivery of public services. The board reiterated its commitment to monitoring progress and addressing challenges to accelerate development in Bhandari subdivision.
