Addressing the media at the Aizawl Press Club on Thursday, MPCC spokesperson and General Secretary Lalbiakzama said the protest is aimed at drawing attention to several issues of public concern. He stated that people have the right to know the truth regarding the alleged transfer of Lengpui land to the Indian Air Force under the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) government.

Lalbiakzama said the party would thoroughly examine the matter and demanded that if any wrongdoing is found, those responsible must be punished according to the law. He stressed that transparency and accountability are essential in matters involving public land and governance.

Highlighting broader concerns, he alleged that under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government at the Centre, minority communities have increasingly faced discrimination. He said the protest march is also intended to oppose what he described as frequent violations and dilution of constitutional rights guaranteed to citizens.

While acknowledging that protest marches can cause temporary inconvenience to the public, Lalbiakzama said the MPCC considers the demonstration necessary to safeguard democratic rights and justice. He appealed to the people for understanding and cooperation, stating that the protest is being organised in the larger interest of protecting constitutional values and public rights.
