The project, developed under the ICONIC Project 2024–25, is aimed at strengthening transportation infrastructure and improving accessibility in one of Nagaland’s remote districts. The new helipad is expected to enhance emergency response capabilities, facilitate administrative mobility and improve connectivity between Noklak and other parts of the state.

The helipad complex includes a range of supporting facilities designed to ensure its effective operation. These include a rest room, an approach road, separate toilet facilities for men and women, perimeter fencing with a secured gate, water supply arrangements and electrification. Officials stated that the comprehensive infrastructure has been developed to meet operational requirements while ensuring convenience and safety for users.

The inauguration programme was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Noklak, the Superintendent of Police, senior district officials, department representatives and public leaders, reflecting the importance attached to the project by both the administration and the local community.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA P. Longon emphasized the significance of the facility for the district’s future development. He noted that the helipad would play a crucial role in improving access to essential services, particularly during emergencies. In remote districts such as Noklak, where road connectivity can be affected by difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions, air connectivity can serve as a vital lifeline.

The MLA further stated that the facility would strengthen disaster management efforts, enable faster medical evacuations and facilitate visits by government officials and development agencies. Improved accessibility, he added, would contribute to better governance and more efficient delivery of public services to the people of the district.

The inauguration marks another step in the state government’s efforts to improve infrastructure in remote areas and ensure that development reaches every corner of Nagaland.
