Lunglei Congress Calls for Unity, Youth Participation in 2026

Lunglei, January 19: The Indian National Congress (INC) in Lunglei has issued a strong call for unity, reconciliation, and renewed commitment among party workers and supporters as it steps into the year 2026 with a focus on organisational strengthening and public service.

Addressing party members, R. Lalnunthara, President of the Lunglei District Congress Committee, said the Congress Party remains open to all who wish to work for the nation, particularly encouraging youth participation. He stressed that the INC continues to provide wide space for young people and those committed to serving the land and its people.

Calling for introspection, Lalnunthara acknowledged that during 2025, certain actions or words by individuals or the party may have hurt sentiments. He urged members to forgive and forget past differences and begin 2026 with unity, cooperation, and greater dedication. He appealed to party workers to rebuild trust, become dependable in the eyes of the people, and work not only for political goals but also for the welfare of society at large.

Outlining the party’s vision for 2026, the Lunglei DCC president said the Congress would work through the INC platform with sincerity and commitment for the protection of the land, the people, and religious harmony, placing trust in God while giving their best efforts. He added that the party aims to revive its grassroots strength and invited the public to continue supporting and guiding the Congress in its initiatives.

The message was delivered during a New Year programme held alongside the reopening of the LDCC Bhawan. On the occasion, eminent personalities were honoured in recognition of their contributions to society. Those felicitated included Prof. J. Zorema, Prof. F. Lalchhanhima, Laldinpuia Sailo, MCS, and Esther L. Hnamte

The Lunglei DCC reaffirmed its commitment to rebuilding the party through inclusiveness, discipline, and people-centric politics in the coming year.
