Kohima: The Kohima Press Club (KPC) is set to celebrate its Silver Jubilee on January 20, 2026, commemorating 25 years of journalistic service, storytelling and contribution to the media landscape of Nagaland and the Northeast. The milestone event will be held at the Capital Convention Centre under the theme “Traversing 25 Years of Storytelling: Inspiring the Future.”
The Silver Jubilee celebrations will bring together journalists, editors, media professionals, policymakers and invited guests to reflect on the evolution of journalism in the region and the role played by the Kohima Press Club in promoting professional standards, press freedom and responsible reporting over the past two and a half decades.
As part of the commemorative programme, the club will organize the Northeast Media Conclave, themed “Reimagining Truth: Northeast Journalism for a Changing World.” The conclave is expected to serve as an important platform for dialogue on the opportunities and challenges facing journalism in the digital era. Discussions will focus on issues such as media ethics, misinformation, technological transformation, audience engagement and the future of news reporting in a rapidly changing information environment.
The event will be attended by prominent media personalities and stakeholders from across the region. Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty, President of the Press Club of India, will attend the programme as the Guest of Honour and is expected to share insights on contemporary media challenges and the role of journalists in safeguarding truth and public interest.
The valedictory session will be graced by Nagaland Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio as the Special Guest. His presence is expected to underscore the significance of the media in strengthening democracy, promoting transparency and fostering informed public discourse.
Organisers stated that the Silver Jubilee celebration is not only an occasion to look back on the achievements and milestones of the Kohima Press Club but also an opportunity to chart a vision for the future. The event aims to reaffirm the club’s commitment to ethical, responsible and forward-looking journalism while encouraging media professionals to adapt to emerging trends and challenges.
