Namchi, January 21: As the 71st Maghey Sankranti Mela 2026 approaches its conclusion, the 8th Sandhya Aarati (Evening Prayer) was solemnly conducted at the sacred confluence of the Rangeet and Rammam rivers on Tuesday evening. The devotional ceremony was led by Madan Cintury, MLA and Chief Patron of the event, accompanied by his spouse Sashi Kala Gadaily.
The occasion witnessed the presence of several senior officials and dignitaries, including Dhiraj Subedi, Deputy Commissioner (Soreng); Bishal Mukhia, Director, SIRD≺ Yogen Syangden, SDM (Jorethang); Wangyal Sherpa, SDM (Namchi); and Tara Sharma, SDPO (Mangalbaria), along with other officials, community leaders and a large number of devotees.
The Sandhya Aarati, a major spiritual highlight of the Maghey Sankranti Mela, is being organised every evening at the confluence with facilitation by different social and religious organisations. The 8th Sandhya Aarati was jointly facilitated by the Sikkim Vaisya Samaj and the Bihari Jagaran Manch, Jorethang.

Devotees gathered in large numbers to participate in the evening prayers, offering lamps and chanting hymns, adding to the spiritual fervour of the mela as it nears its end.
It was informed that the Sandhya Aarati at the Rangeet–Rammam confluence will be held for the final time on the evening of January 22, 2026, coinciding with the concluding day of the 71st Maghey Sankranti Mela, marking the culmination of the week-long religious and cultural celebrations.
