Namchi, January 31, 2026: The Agriculture Department of Namchi organised an Awareness-cum-Distribution Programme on Micro-Irrigation (MI) Systems under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana – Per Drop More Crop (PMKSY-PDMC) at the Denchung PMKSY Cluster, Namchi District, for the year 2025–2026. The programme aimed at promoting efficient water management practices and enhancing agricultural productivity in the region.
Smt. Babita Limbu, General Secretary of Nari Shakti State Level SKM Party, graced the event as the Chief Guest. The event saw active participation from Shri Phurden Lepcha, OSD to the Hon’ble Minister, all the Hon’ble Panchayat members of Poklok GPU, Mr. Mukesh Dahal, BDO of Jorethang, Mr. Arbin Majhi, Agriculture Development Officer (ADO), Jorethang Block, and other officials and staff from the concerned Agriculture Block.

During the event, 1,000-litre poly tanks were distributed to 127 beneficiaries to promote the adoption of micro-irrigation systems in the region. These systems aim to conserve water, enhance productivity, and ensure sustainable agricultural development. The distribution marked a significant step towards better water management in the district.
The programme also underscored the importance of water conservation and the adoption of modern irrigation practices for long-term agricultural growth, contributing to the objectives of the PMKSY scheme.
