Meghalaya: KHADC CEM Winston Lyngdoh Declines Extra Security Despite HNLC Threats

Shillong, Jan 28: The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Winston Tony Lyngdoh, on Tuesday said he would not seek additional security despite alleged threats issued by the banned militant outfit Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).

Speaking to the media, Lyngdoh said he does not feel the need to formally request protection from the state government at this stage. He added that matters related to security and monitoring of such threats fall under the jurisdiction of the Police Department and the Home Department, and that the concerned authorities are already aware of the situation.

According to the CEM, law enforcement agencies will take appropriate action as per established procedures. Maintaining a calm stance, Lyngdoh asserted that he would continue to carry out his responsibilities without fear or disruption.

His remarks come amid growing concerns following reports that the HNLC had issued warnings targeting members of the district council.
