According to an order issued by the Home Department, Government of Manipur, and approved by the Governor of Manipur, the monthly remuneration of VDF personnel has been revised to ₹14,400 per month, calculated at ₹480 per day for 30 days. The revised rate aligns with the prevailing minimum wages notified by the Labour, Employment & Enterprises Department (SLEE Department).

In addition to the revised base remuneration, the order provides for an annual increment of ₹500 for every year of completed service rendered by VDF personnel, recognising their continued contribution to local security and community protection.

The order supersedes all previous instructions on the matter and has been issued with the approval of the competent authority, along with the concurrence of the Finance Department, Government of Manipur, conveyed through its official communication dated January 14, 2026.

The notification was signed by Mayengbam Veto Singh, Joint Secretary (Home), Government of Manipur, and copies have been circulated to senior officials, including the Director General of Police, Commissioners, district police heads and treasury officers for implementation.

The revision is expected to provide financial relief and improved motivation to Village Defence Force personnel, who play a crucial role in maintaining security and assisting law enforcement at the grassroots level across Manipur.
